We all love thanksgiving day. The smell of dinner and family reunions, however, we must not forget the true meaning of this holiday: giving thanks. Nevertheless, this is something we must do every day.
Although things might not be okay all the time, there are always reasons to be grateful. Last year, I adopted the habit of keeping a journal in which I wrote every night. In this journal, I included things like what I did well on, what I want to do tomorrow, what I am grateful for, etc. After a few weeks, I noticed a huge change in my behavior. I was happier and enjoyed my life. I also noticed as time passed, there were more things I was grateful.
The bad things in life tend to overweigh all the good. Keeping a gratitude journal has allowed me to see the good things in life and take that all in. As I go about my day, I focus on the good things, but most importantly I am more present in every moment. I enjoy and take everything in.
I urge you to share this gratitude journey with me. Every night, before going to bed write down at least 3 things you are grateful for. Soon, you will notice a great change in your mental state as well as how you perceive everything in your life. I wish you the best!
